Drum-Vac Technology

PROSONIC’s Drum-Vac is the most reliable and efficient method to learn exactly where underground utilities are located

PROSONIC Corporation designed the soil vacuuming system

("potholing") specifically for utility clearance and sampling purposes with drilling operations (and costs) in mind.

The Drum-Vac system can employ either wet or dry vacuuming depending upon specific geologic conditions and sampling requirements.

The
Drum-Vac offers several advantages over standard methods of utility line location:

  • Safety — avoids drilling through buried utilities and potentially fatal accidents;
  • Accuracy
  • Speed — vacuumed soil is quickly removed and containerized;
  • Cost-effectiveness — expensive vacuum trucks are not required.

Instead of simply relying on geophysical location techniques or potentially inaccurate "as builts", Drum-Vac uses vacuum extraction or a combination of vacuum and high-pressure water to precisely locate buried utilities visually, allowing our crews to:

  • Identify vertical and horizontal utility location
  • Rapidly and neatly remove cuttings from work area
  • Perform pre-job surveying and mapping of utilities
  • Expose buried utilities for inspection
  • Safely and efficiently complete clearance of boring locations
  • Sample remote locations unreachable with drilling or probing equipment

The Drum-Vac Utility Clearance system is integrated with our existing drilling and probing equipment, so only one mobilization is needed.

Larger systems are also available for soil excavation projects

This is the only system designed by drillers for drilling operations with safety as a priority!
